In Libra is the balance of all possible percepts; an equilibrated, formulated field, under the dominion of Venus, and therefore biased towards pleasure. This universal field of form is sub-divided into further forms, right down to the most minute rotations. “To be a Libran is to be pleasure-biased and to be perceptive, and all the percepts are pursued because of their potential pleasure-giving.”
Percepts must be ordered into a hierarchy, and their energies established in the memory. This occurs in the fixed point of Aquarius. In Aquarius is the sign of Saturn, which indicates contraction, and control. The water element in Aquarius is the protoplasm which retains the intellectual content of the percepts. Saturn ensures that the energies stored in the memory do not escape. The perceptual field of Libra, and the selections from it in Aquarius, held in by Saturn, require that the third position, the mutable sign of Gemini, represented by the twins, will balance both. In Gemini, Mercury rules. This reminds us that, when energy enters a closed system, it must rotate. So the perceptual field and the mnemic or memory field must be balanced and separated out. If we do not distinguish clearly between a present percept and a memory, which is a previous percept, then the extant reality before us will be overlaid with a memory and we will be duped. The intellectual triad is only one-quarter of our being, and if we identify with it we can be very clear in our propositions but, at the same time, entirely mechanical and therefore, less free.
